HUMATIX is committed to providing an inclusive environment for all, regardless of gender, age, gender identity, race, health status, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and religion. We aim to make everyone feel heard, and strive to bring hope & health to ALL we work with.
HUMATIX was founded with a simple belief: people deserve access to healthcare professionals who understand the physical demands of their daily lives and can help them stay healthy, capable, and prepared for what matters most.
As an Athletic Trainer, healthcare provider, and CEO of HUMATIX, Ken Follett spent nearly a decade working in athletics, rehabilitation, and industrial settings. Throughout his career, he witnessed firsthand the impact that proactive injury prevention, movement education, and performance-focused healthcare can have on a person's quality of life. Yet he also noticed a significant gap. Many hardworking professionals, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, public safety personnel, and industrial workers, often lacked access to healthcare providers who understood the unique physical demands of their jobs.
Ken's passion for human performance and injury prevention began as a high school athlete and ultimately led him to pursue a degree in Athletic Training from Grand Valley State University as a non-traditional student. It was through his work with tactical and public safety professionals that he discovered his purpose.
"These professionals are asked to perform at a high level every day, often while carrying the weight of serving others. They deserve healthcare that understands their job demands, supports their performance, and helps them stay healthy throughout their careers."
Alongside Ken, his wife Tara helped shape the heart and culture of HUMATIX. With a background in early childhood development, education, community engagement, and digital marketing, Tara brings a unique perspective centered on relationships, accessibility, and serving people where they are. Her years working with children, families, and school communities reinforced a belief that meaningful change happens when people feel seen, valued, and supported.
Together, Ken and Tara built HUMATIX to shine a light on the incredible value Athletic Trainers bring to healthcare while making those services more accessible to underserved populations. Their vision extends beyond injury care. HUMATIX focuses on educating tactical athletes, first responders, industrial employees, and active individuals about their health, movement, recovery, and long-term wellness.
As a family-owned business based in West Michigan, HUMATIX combines evidence-based healthcare with a personal approach rooted in trust, education, and genuine care for the people we serve. Whether partnering with a fire department, police agency, municipality, business, or individual, our goal remains the same: to help people move better, perform better, and live healthier lives.
Because when people are equipped to care for themselves, they are better prepared to care for their families, their coworkers, and their communities.
